Even when repairing threads with V-COIL wire thread inserts, it is often necessary to check that the cut holding threads are true to gauge before installing the wire thread inserts..
STI = Screw Thread Insert
As the holding threads cut with V-COIL STI screw taps are dimensioned specifically for the wire thread inserts, thread plug gauges for standard threads cannot be used for this purpose. Only the special STI precision thread plug gauges must be used.
